Where is Estepona

Estepona, the legendary Salduba,
the Muslim 'Estebbuna' described as
'paradise... an ideal spot of abundant delights',
is in the most southern part of Spain, and is within a day's trip of the most northern part of Africa.

From east or west Estepona glistens white against a sparkling sea. Gibraltar stands high on the horizon and the faint outline of African mountains loom to the south. A fine promenade lined by palm trees and garlanded with flowers runs the length of the town which was awarded national prize for the beauty by the Ministry of Information and Tourism. Estepona understands the importance of preserving her Andalusian character. The unspoiled town of Estepona is a gem of the Costa del Sol's attractions.

However, from Madrid, a newly completed interstate-quality highway affords an easy and scenic 4 1/2 hour drive to Estepona. We gladly will suggest historic and educational stops for this travel route.

Estepona, with its population of 52.000, is a beautiful unspoiled coastal community located on the Costa del Sol in Southern Spain. It is only a one hour drive to an unforgettable shopping experience in Gibraltar, where already excellent bargains can be negotiated lower. Estepona has 21 km of beautiful beaches, one of which (La Rada) received the blue band award for beaches in Europe. This truly unspoiled village is well arranged along the beach, but it is not reminiscent of a typical beach city.

Estepona, while conserving its typical Andalusian architecture, its peaceful squares and white houses adorned with plants and flowers, is also a modern town with remarkable urbanizations, golf courses and creative zones. It boasts a magnificent port within which are numerous restaurants and luxurious moored yachts. Estepona lies within only a few km of the foot hills of fir-covered mountains, thus affording a variety of views and activities, e.g., picnics and horseback riding. Speaking of views, there are these also: of Estepona's roof line; of sea and flowers from a beach front villa; and of Gibraltar.

We are specialists concentrating on vacation properties in the Estepona area. We reside in the area, know it intimately and are able and very willing to provide the personal attention necessary to remove most of the intimidation felt by those with limited living experience in foreign countries.

This map shows some of the day trip attractions such as Ronda, Gibraltar and others, such as Marbella, site of the 1997 Ryder Cup Golf Tournament. Tangier also is accessible for one-day trips (or longer) through the use of ferry, boat or plane. Because of the variety of local touring destinations, it is recommended that longer than usual vacations be planned as the area is not limited only to beach activities.
